About RoboReview

RoboReview was born out of frustration. Every "best robot vacuum" list we found online was either a copy-pasted spec sheet, an Amazon affiliate page with no real insight, or a Wirecutter article that tested 3 brands and declared a winner.

Robot vacuums are complicated. They're vacuum cleaners, mops, mapping computers, obstacle avoidance systems, and self-cleaning appliances — all in one device that costs anywhere from $150 to $1,800. Buying one based on a spec sheet comparison is like buying a car based on horsepower alone.

We exist to fix that. Our comparisons are built on three principles:

1. We Rate What Matters, Not What's on the Box

Suction numbers in pascals are marketing. What matters is: does it actually pick up pet hair from carpet? Does the mop leave streaks or just spread dirty water? Does the robot get stuck on your rug fringe? We prioritize real-world behavior over spec-sheet metrics.

2. Every Recommendation Has a Specific "Who"

"Best overall" is meaningless. Best for who? A $1,800 Roborock is a terrible choice for a 500 sq ft apartment. A $400 Yeedi is the wrong call for a 3,000 sq ft home with three dogs. Every robot we recommend comes with a clear "this is for you if…" statement. If you fit the opposite profile, we'll tell you to buy something else.

3. We're Transparent About How We Make Money

RoboReview earns commission when you buy products through our links (at no extra cost to you). This is how we keep the site running without paywalls or sponsored rankings. We do not accept payment from brands for placement, and our ratings are independent of affiliate relationships. Full disclosure.

Our Review Process

We don’t run a private lab, and we don’t take free units from manufacturers. Instead we synthesize three transparent inputs into every score — the same framework detailed on our How We Test page:

• Spec verification: Manufacturer claims checked against publicly available independent testing data (e.g. Vacuum Wars, consumer labs)
• User sentiment mining: Reddit (r/RobotVacuums), Amazon reviews, YouTube comments — hundreds of data points per model
• Long-term reliability tracking: 6-month and 12-month owner reports for maintenance issues, app bugs, and hardware failures
• Comparative analysis: Side-by-side feature mapping to identify genuine differentiation vs. spec-sheet noise
